Developed to introduce youth to mining-related roles, occupations, and careers that align with their talents and interests. ‘Careers in Mining: A Teaching Resource’ exemplifies innovation and underscores the mining sector’s pivotal role in Canada’s transition to a clean economy. Students in grades 7 to 10 will discover how modern mining prioritizes safety, employs cutting-edge equipment and maintains environmental consciousness. The lessons and activities establish real-world connections by highlighting everyday items—such as phones, tablets, smoke detectors and surgical equipment—that rely on mined materials. 

What’s Included in the Curriculum Resource?

The curriculum resource provides grade 7 to 10 educators with12 unique and high-quality lesson plans in various formats, including themes and interactive, hands-on activities. These plans aim to introduce students to the realities of working in Canada’s mining sector. Additionally, the resource’s Curriculum Connections highlight how each lesson aligns with the curriculum of each province and territory.
